Ms Sangeeta Venkatesan

Head of RMB & China Solutions for Commonwealth Bank of Australia

Sangeeta Venkatesan is the Head of Renminbi (‘RMB’) & China Solutions for Institutional Banking and Markets (‘IB&M’) at the Commonwealth Bank of Australia (‘CBA’).

In her role she is responsible for leading the team that creates and delivers RMB and China strategy across the Group, focussing on enhancing clients’ success by providing end-to-end solutions, primarily for their cross border trade and investment needs.

Sangeeta has close to 20 years of experience in the banking and financed industry working with Goldman Sachs, Morgan Stanley, KPMG and Lehman Brothers/ Nomura across the globe including Hong Kong, Singapore, Mumbai and London, most of them in Global Markets.

Prior to joining CBA as the Chief Operating Officer for the Global Foreign Exchange business in January 2011, Sangeeta was Executive Director and Chief Operating Officer for the Global Credit business at Nomura based in London. At Nomura she also represented the firm at the ISDA Credit Derivatives Committee and AFME Credit Board.

She is a keen advocate for diversity and culture through her work with IB&Ms CQ committee and chairs the Finance Regulations and Governance sub-committee for Australia’s Women in Banking and Finance (‘WiBF’).

Sangeeta is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants.


The IB&M division of CBA is responsible for managing the Group’s relationships with major corporate, institutional and government clients and providing a full range of capital raising, transactional and risk management products and services.

The RMB and China Solutions team enables tailored end-to-end solutions for our clients, through collaboration with our relationship and product specialists. The team’s purpose is to enhance our clients’ success through market-leading capabilities and unique insights, focusing on client’s cross border trade and investment needs. The team is responsible for growing cross border business in line with the IB&M strategy.
